Galaxidi is a town and a municipality located in the southern part of the prefecture of Phocis (Fokida). It has a small harbor which connects with the Crisaean Gulf north of Galaxidi. The city was originally built on a hill, 130m above the sea. Galaxidi became a nautical center in the 3rd century B.C., and began making alliances with other surrounding cities. The nautical cities marine history and heritage of the passion for the sea has been discussed in old texts that were found in Galaxidi, and this is a characteristic of all people remains there today.
