The Greekshops.com Athena Collection was inspired by Goddess Athina. Athina is synonymous to wisdom but also to Ancient Greek arts which the Greek Key dominates as a motif. This sterling silver necklace features the traditional greek key pattern, the center link being the largest, and on either side the links decrease in size as they near the clasp. The links are slightly arched, so the necklace will lie comfortably around your neck.
Approx. 50cm (19.68 inches) length. Links range from 30mm(1.18 inches) width to 7mm (0.27inches) width.

In art and architecture, a meander is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif. Such a design is also called the Greek Fret or Greek Key design, although these are modern words. The name "meander" recalls the twisting and turning path of the Maeander River. Meanders were among the most important symbols in ancient Greece; they, perhaps, symbolized infinity and unity; many ancient Greek temples incorporated the sign of the meander.
